I am a Philadelphia-based arts administrator. I have eclectic experience in management, events and production, educational development, and psychological & public health research. I have held a range of roles in research, leadership, and production and I look forward to the next adventure!

ARTIST BIO

Autumn Storm Blalock, MA (she/her), is an arts administrator and Theater for Health researcher originally from PG County, MD. An acclaimed scholar with a focus on Afro-American phenomenology, Blalock uses a multi-cultural approach to storytelling. She is a published researcher, poet, and essayist. This experience, coupled with her background in the field of health psychology, creates a unique dramaturgical process that enhances the work of a playwright and production team. Some of her credits include working in administrative roles with Philadelphia Women’s Theatre Festival and the Philly Education in Arts Partnership. She has also served in artistic capacities as a dramaturg or stage manager with PlayPenn, Philadelphia Artists Collective, and Eagle Theatre.

ADMINISTRATIVE BIO

Autumn Storm Blalock, MA (she/her), is an arts administrator and Theater for Health researcher originally from PG County, MD.  She is a published researcher with over five years of experience in public-facing leadership roles. She has worked in the education, nonprofit, and private corporate fields. Her roles usually include programmatic organization, staff management, departmental development, fiscal management, customer service, and more. She holds a Master of Arts in Theater and a Graduate Certification in Nonprofit Management. She also holds a certification in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and leads corporate workshops on ways to create inclusive and healthy environments. Her leadership roles have included Managing Director at Philadelphia Women's Theatre Festival,  Events Manager & Marketing Coordinator at PlayArts, and Performing Arts Coordinator at Allens Lane Art Center.

A student of the ever-changing world around us, she is passionate about - and skilled in - setting the stage for not only a performance - but a call to #action.

Azuka Theatre's Very First New Play Festival - Azukafest!

As the Director of New Play Development at Azuka Theatre, I had the honor of pre-dramaturging twelve plays and then collaborating with the Artistic Director to produce a festival! 3 days, 12 plays, and over 50 artists - what a ride! Click to see some of the photos from the February 2025 event.

Through my training, I have learned to call it ghosting as described by Marvin Carlson... The reality for many people of color is that what is called ghosting in entertainment is experienced as racial profiling in our lives... How can writers of color tell stories that both honor the cultures of their characters AND translate to dominant Western culture?"
